Privacy Policy

The short version

This site has no accounts and no sign-in. The teams, lineups, and game stats you create are stored only in your own browser (using a technology called localStorage). They are never uploaded to me, and I could not read them if I wanted to. The site is free. Advertising is served by Google AdSense and visits are measured with Google Analytics, both disclosed below.

Who runs this site

VolleyRoster is built by Mike Mulik under the name doubleM, from Ontario, Canada. Tool data stays on your device unless you choose to share or export it. Reach me at hello@doublem.ca.

Data you create in the tools

Rosters, saved teams, and game statistics (player names, jersey numbers, and performance events you record) live in your browser's local storage on your device. Clearing your browser data removes them. Normal editing does not put player names or numbers into the address bar. When you choose "Create share link," the team you built is encoded into a share URL (using a hash fragment so the payload is not sent as a normal query string to the host). Anyone with that link can see the roster you included. Share it the way you would share the same information on paper. Prefer first names or initials for youth teams if you share.

Technical data and server logs

Like nearly every website, the hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, device and browser type, and the pages requested) used for security and troubleshooting and retained for a limited period. Advertising cookies are described below. None of this includes the teams or stats you build in the tools, which do not leave your browser.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. It records things like the page address, rough location derived from your IP address, and the type of device and browser you use. I use it to decide what to build and write next.

It is set up so that the roster data in a share link is never sent to Google. Share links carry the team in the part of the address after the #, and the analytics tag is configured to report only the page path, with the query string and that fragment removed. Player names and numbers therefore stay out of analytics, the same way they stay off the server.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites with Google's browser add-on, or by blocking analytics in your browser or an extension. The tools keep working either way.

Advertising

This site uses Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites, and to measure ad performance. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can opt out of personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com. Visitors in regions that require consent (for example the EEA and UK) are shown a consent message before any ads are served.

Your rights and choices

You can manage or clear cookies in your browser, opt out of personalized advertising at the Google links above, and clear all tool data by clearing this site's browser storage. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under GDPR (EEA/UK), CCPA (California), or PIPEDA (Canada). To exercise them, email hello@doublem.ca.

Service providers this site relies on (such as Google for advertising and the hosting provider) may process technical data in the United States and other countries.

What this site does not do

• No accounts, passwords, or profiles.
• No collection of your rosters, stats, or team data on any server.
• No selling of personal information.
• This site is intended for coaches, parents, and adult players. It is not directed to children under 13. Player names or numbers a coach types in stay on the coach's own device (or in links the coach chooses to share); they are never sent to me.

Changes to this policy

If how the site works or how ads are served changes, this page and the "Last updated" date at the top will be updated.
